Dear Odegaard Library:

You suck for not ever having enough computers during my class breaks. I just need one computer to print off two lousy pages (for which you expensively charge 12 cents per page by the way) for my grade dependent homework. I do not enjoy standing next to someone vulture-style and mentally pressuring them to leave. Could someone please just add some more computers. I know there’s already a million computers, but there are two million gajillion people here; please retake a math class if you don’t understand. Can’t you kick off those Asian guys over there playing Starcraft/WoW?? CAN’T YOU?? WHO PLAYS ON A LIBRARY COMPUTER ANYWAYS?? Nobody. Despite the awesomeness of your computers.

What you’ve caused me to do is wait till dinner time when nobody except the people who are forced to work during dinner time are here. Also, I have to use a graphics computer because your Windows computers do not have the programs needed to do my project. And now you’ve made me physically attach myself to my little Mac OSX workstation so no one will steal it, because I know as soon as I leave to get a drink of water someone will attack my space (who goes to the library right after they eat seriously). Thanks a lot. I’m probably going to starve to death.

P.S. I think I’m also emotionally attached to my workstation. I guess thanks for bring us together. Even though our love will probably be broken by some jerk wanting to use this area to edit videos or whatever.

P.P.S. Sorry I am being mean. You’re actually a nice big library. It’s ok everyone has their faults. JUST OWN UP MAN.

So apparently individual behaviour (smoking, drinking, drugs, etc.) have little to do with living long at all. America is #30 (or #45 depending on which chart thingy you look at) on the list of life expectancy. Japan’s #1. How Japanese people can manage to live the longest, despite the constant danger of suffocating from the amount of people crammed together, is a wonder. The secret is that Japan’s people have better mental health than the U.S.’s. They’re just more socially cohesive than the U.S. For example, just take a look at the two countries’ tourism methods. Have you ever seen a Japanese tourist legging it out on his own? No, you have not. U.S.A.ians like to tough it out independently.

nutshell: Japan is emotionally stable so the people can smoke/drink all they want without consequence.

Group of happy Japanese tourists free of cardiovascular disease. Aww look at them with their little Asian hats and fanny packs.

Lonely American tourist in Southern Morocco very probably going to die of depression and sorrow.¹
